Terror in the Sky

Our radio station proclaimed that As today was the 6th day of July, It was the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landing, They even played a wartime tune My thoughts went back to that terrible time, Which had caused heartache, sorrow and pain, There were tears in my eyes, terror in my mind, As I recalled it all again How I did shake with fear when I did hear, The wail of the siren at night, How I would quiver with dread, And cover my head in fright Then from then night sky, I would hear the enemy planes fly by, Had they come to raid our town? Would I soon hear their bombs drop down? Please don’t let this happen I would pray, Dear God, do be willing, To stop our enemies from filling, And bring peace to our lands today Dedicated to my late brothers James and John Both soldiers in the British army They are remembered with love xxx
